-How Are Fedora Hats Measured?-

Hats are measured by the inside circumference at the bottom of the hat's crown (the sweatband) + most often measured in centimeters. While hats may be sized according to their measurement, it is fairly common for women/men to choose hat sizes based on the average head size, (57 cm, or. 7 1/4 for women)(58 cm, or 7 3/8 for men) + then adjusting down to fit if necessary. Find our menu tab named 'Hat Necessities' for our hat size adjustors + more!

-How to measure your hat size-

There are two primary methods of measuring your hat size + are based on the style in which you wear a hat. You will need to take both methods of measurements (shown below) + then use the larger of the two measurements to determine your hat size. Once you've received your hat, you can decide how you would like to wear it + adjust your hat size accordingly.

+ TIP: If you don't have a textile measuring tape, use a string or piece of yarn to measure the distance around your head. After you have marked the yarn around your head, lay it out flat. on the ground or table + measure the straightened out piece of yarn with a measuring stick or regular measuring tape.

-Method #1- The Traditional Style-

This is the traditional style of wearing a hat. The front tip is low on the forehead, just above your eyebrows, causing the hat to sit nearly level with the ground.

-Method #2- The Halo Style-

This is the halo method of wearing a hat. The front of your hat is raised up + the hat sits on the back of your head, showing more of the underscore to your brim in a halo-like fashion.

-How to adjust your hat size-

Hat Necessities

-How to find the best hat for your face shape-

There are six basic face shapes: Long, Round, Square, Heart, Oval, & Diamond. To determine your face shape, I recommend focusing on these attributes of your face-

+ The Widest Part:

Consider where the widest part. of your face is. Is it across your cheekbones, your forehead or your jawline? Inspecting this measurement helps to point to a specific face shape easier than looking at your head as a whole.

+ The Jawline:

Take a good look at the shape of your jawline. This will put you into different categories depending on if you have a strong jawline or a softer, less noticeable one as well as the shape of your chin itself!

+ The Length:
This is more of an eyeball-it determination. Look at the length of your face starting from the top of your forehead down to the bottom of your chin + decide whether your face length is long, medium, or on the shorter side.
Now you're ready to learn which hats would technically be most flattering for your face shape! It's possible you'll fall under multiple categories, here's what I suggest.
-Long Face Shape-
An elongated face is longer than it is wide, which is why focusing on the length of your face is key.
Hats with wide brims + medium crowns are great options! Choose a hat with a brim that cuts across the forehead to minimize the length of your face.
-Round Face Shape-
Your face is about as wide as it is long, with a wide forehead, full cheeks (that are most likely the widest part of your face), and a rounded chin.
-The symmetry in your face is the perfect canvas for floppy hats.
-Diamond Face Shape-
Your face is about as wide as it is long, with a wide forehead, full cheeks (that are most likely the widest part of your face), and a rounded chin.
The symmetry in your face is the perfect canvas for floppy hats.
-Square Face Shape-
This is more of an eyeball-it determination. Look at the length of your face starting from the top of your forehead down to the bottom of your chin + decide whether your face length is long, medium, or on the shorter side.
-Heart Face Shape-
This is more of an eyeball-it determination. Look at the length of your face starting from the top of your forehead down to the bottom of your chin + decide whether your face length is long, medium, or on the shorter side.
